From Busy to Aligned: What Coaching Taught Me

There was a time when my calendar was a badge of honor.

Back-to-back meetings, overflowing inboxes, tight deadlines—I thought being busy meant being important. That staying in motion meant I was moving forward. But somewhere between the early morning check-ins and late-night catch-ups, I started to feel something shift.

I wasn’t burnt out. I was simply disconnected.

“I checked all the right boxes—but still felt like something essential was missing.”

From my own purpose. From joy. From clarity.

And that’s when coaching entered the picture—not just as a profession, but as a path of deep personal transformation.

Coaching Taught Me to Pause

As a former corporate leader, I was wired to fix, to act, to plan. Coaching, however, invited me to do something I hadn’t done in a long time: pause.

In that pause, I met myself again. I began to notice the questions underneath the busyness:

  • Am I doing what truly matters?
  • Whose version of success am I chasing?
  • What would it look like to lead from alignment, not just achievement?

Coaching Taught Me to Listen

Not just to others—but to my own intuition.

I realized how much I had been tuning out the whispers of my own needs, creative urges, and deeper longings. Coaching gave me a structure where silence wasn’t empty—it was productive. It was where the answers lived.

“Silence isn’t empty. It’s where the answers live.”

Coaching Taught Me That Less Can Be More

I used to think clarity came from more input: more advice, more books, more strategies. But what I learned is that clarity often comes from making space—letting go of what no longer fits.

Coaching helped me edit my life. To stop performing and start aligning. To stop chasing and start choosing.

Coaching Taught Me to Redefine Growth

True growth isn’t about climbing higher. It’s about going deeper.

Growth isn’t just what shows up on your resume—it’s what shifts inside you:

  • The courage to have an honest conversation
  • The clarity to say no
  • The presence to listen—really listen—to your team, your family, yourself

“Growth isn’t up. It’s inward.”

And Now, I Coach Others to Find Their Alignment

Today, through Shifting Realms, I help mid-career professionals rediscover their voice, their vision, and their version of success. Not the one handed to them—but the one that speaks to who they really are.

Because being busy is easy. But being aligned? That’s where the real work—and real transformation—begins.

“Busy is a habit. Alignment is a choice.”

If you’re ready to move from “busy” to aligned, let’s talk.
